History of Kemka Silat

The school was originally established as a Kempo school by Mr. Harry van Milt in 1971. Then in 1981 with the school being run by Mr Ivan McWilliams, the style was transformed and influenced under the instruction of Mr Trevor Jarrad. The school was renamed Kemka Silat. In 1985 Mr Ivan McWilliams took sole control of the school and style, and has continued to run this school. In 1997 a sister school was established in Queensland under the instruction of Mr Richard Cartledge.
